PAFTOL news – data release and Explorer launch

On 23 Feb 2021, the Plant and Fungal Trees of Life (PAFTOL) project at Kew made their first full data release for angiosperms with the launch of the Kew Tree of Life Explorer https://treeoflife.kew.org/. This new web portal provides open access to PAFTOL’s Angiosperms353 nuclear gene data, to a novel interactive angiosperm tree of life, and to all metadata and data intermediates. Data release 1.0 comprises 3,099 samples, representing all 64 angiosperm orders, 404 families (96%) and 2,333 genera (17%). The team is planning a further data release before the end of the year.

PAFTOL has also posted a preprint in bioRxiv (https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.02.22.431589) that explains what the team has done and why.
